In her shoes..

Since I am not getting to buy any cute clothes lately, I thought I would do a little shoe shopping on my lunch break. I am the type of girl who would rather buy 5 pairs for $20 than one pair for $100. Here is what will be arriving in my closet soon…

The Perfect Cupcake

I have cupcakes on the brain. This week, every post will be somehow related to cupcakes. I am hoping that if I blog about them, I won’t be as tempted to eat them. We’ll see if it works…

I have watched Cupcake Wars numerous times on The Food Network and looked at beautiful pictures of cupcakes all over the internet and there is one thing I want to know….How do they get the icing perfect???

I found this kit online and thought it might be a good start, but I also need to know how to make the icing. Any ideas?? HELP!

The kit can be purchased here for $16.95.

Picky Stickies

With each baby, I have vowed to take a picture each month with a sign that says how old they are. So far that has never happened. Maybe with this new baby it will thanks to my friend Lauren who introduced me to Picky Stickies. The stickers come numbered 0-12, adhere to fabric, and peel right off when you are done taking the shot. How easy is that??

Lauren sent me a few pictures of her daughter Claire to model the stickers.

Kids Valentines

I feel as if I have been so busy this week, but with the exception of  a church meeting and a much needed haircut and highlight, I can’t tell you what I have done. After thinking about this for a while, I realized what has kept me from blogging – Jack Hudson Harrison. Last weekend, he decided to give up his nap on both Saturday and Sunday and since last week he has decided to push his normal bedtime back from 7:00 to 8:30 or 9:00. By contrast, I am so tired by the time I put him down that I have moved my bedtime from 11:00 to 9:00.

In the midst of all of this, Charlie needed Valentines for his class. I wanted to do something creative, but instead went with these:

and the only thing creative I did was add a package of these to each one:

However, there are other moms out there who have done a great job with their kids valentines. Here they are to give you some inspiration:

Kids Knit Hats

Last week brought some of the coldest weather that we have experienced in a long time. I found myself running Jack into daycare with a blanket over him since he does not own a hat or a heavy coat. Next year, I promise to be more prepared in case we get another unsuspected Arctic blast. I think one of these hats just might do the trick!

Kids Bookshelves

Our kids playroom has four wonderful window seats. They are each about five feet long and have two drawers under each one. We have long talked about building bookshelves on either side of the window seat. I think that children’s books should face outward so that kids can see the covers and not the spines. I have always been inspired by this photo of Kelly Wearstler’s children’s library.

If you don’t have someone to build the bookshelves, or do not want to spend that much money, but still get the look, rain gutters work just as well.

Happy Birthday Sammy and Noah

Happy, happy belated birthday to my favorite twins, Sammy and Noah. We had such an amazing time at their birthday party this weekend and I can’t wait to see what great things are in store for these two in 2011.

Sammy and Noah were born at 23 weeks gestation. The odds were stacked against them since birth and not only have they proven their doctors wrong on numerous occasions, they have also shown us who know them that miracles do happen each and every day. While Sammy Sue and Noah are stars in their own right, they would not be where they are today without their parents who constantly fight for what is best for their children. After meeting their grandparents, great-grandmother and their Tia, you can tell that they are surrounded by the best of the best who will stop at nothing to see these children fulfill their utmost potential while embraced by love and support.

Jordan has blogged about their journey since birth. Not only do you get to read their story which is so eloquently written, you also get to see photos and videos so that you can share in their happiness along the way.

I have known Jordan for about 18 months and am truly honored to be called her friend. While I have read descriptions about blogging moms such as “SAHM, decorator, philanthropist, etc., etc.”, Jordan needs no description. She is simply mom. She takes her kids to preschool and a million different types of therapies every day all while managing to still be so stylish and put together!

If I can tell you to do one thing this week it would be to check out Noah and Sammy Sue’s blog. It is one of hope, faith, and encouragement. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will have a new appreciation for life.

Baby Bedding: Pom Pom at Home

So many people have asked me what the baby bedding looks like for the new baby. Since I have decided not to find out the sex, I am going with something very gender neutral. If the new baby is a girl, she will be in Chloe’s old room and if it is a boy, he is going in our study until Jack moves to Charlie’s room. I am not ready to have more than one baby up during the night so for now, everyone gets their own room.

Pom Pom at Home has beautiful lines for adult bedding and baby bedding. Jennifer Lopez used their crib bedding in her twins stunning nursery.

The new baby will have the same white linen bedding with the addition of this duvet:

and pillow:

And that’s it. Nothing fancy or bold. Just simple and elegant. You can see all that is offered at Pom Pom at Home.
